Haha well I'm sure the neighbors enjoyed seeing a six foot two, 150 lb scrawny kids jumping up and down trying to make his wagon bounce. I'll try the wrench thing and let you guys know how that turns out. Thanks!!!

It certainly can be the spring seat, I'm not saying it isn't. I'm just giving a more definitive way to tell if it is bad. If you put a wrench on the nut and turn, it should move slightly and then stop. If you can spin it all the way around, the spring seat is busted.

As for how much play, Volvo doesn't have a spec for something like that. I check them as mentioned above. You can also remove the nut to visually check for a broken seat or use a pry bar under the washer to lift it and peek in there. Using a wrench is the quickest way though.
Ok, so there is almost no twist at all. I'll also mention that the noise is not present as often. I know it's not the case of me just getting used to the noise, i'm the kind of person who's car makes an odd squeak and I panic.

Okay, then the strut mounts are fine. Do you know what brand pads and rotors are on the car?

That I do not, the front pads and rotors were there when I bought the car. I do have all the paperwork for the car so I could try and find it. The previous owner took extremely good care of the car and took it to the same Volvo mechanic for the life of the car. He had quite the deep pockets so I can't imagine he cheeped out on anything.

You make a good point there. It just looks too shiny to be the nut which is why I thought it was the sleeve itself. Looking at it closer, there isn't enough room for the nut under that upper plate for it to be the sleeve. No help there
One of those things where someone is going to have to take it apart to figure it out.
