Front end enigma...
I have a 97 850 t5 wagon. I love it. I am hearing a single clunk noise when turning, especially in reverse. like when backing out of a parking spot and the steering is near one extreme or the other. It is a single clunk and never heard during normal driving. I checked or "shook down" the front end. my wheel bearings, ball joints and tie-rod ends seem to be fine. Any ideas would be helpful. Sway bar link maybe? anyway help me diagnose this please! Thanks!
You will get lots more relevant input from 850 section.
Does it only make this noise at turning extremes? Then it's not sway bar links; would hear that as you're going down the road anytime.
Did you grease the little plastic turn stops on the LCAs (lower control arms)? Try that first.
Could a moderator move this to 850 section please?

So I put a little grease on the plastic control arm stops. They looked fine, scratched but not loose or missing. Someone mentioned motor mounts. What's the best way to check those? Any other ideas would be awesome. Thanks folks!
