fuel pressure - regulator or damper
1996 850 glt, no return fuel line
my mechanic said i need a new fuel pressure regulator. after a little research i ordered what turned out to be the wrong part. so i did a little more research, and now i'm not sure what is going on. i took the fuel rail off, and got the part number from what is on there now. looked it up, and it's called a "fuel pressure damper". from what i can tell from my searching around, there might still be a fuel pressure regulator on here somewhere.
so my mechanic read the code and said it was the fpr, but now i'm not so sure. do i have one, did he mean the damper, ???...
i've been doing some basic maintenance on this car, and i plan to keep it a while. (only 90k miles or so) So i just ordered these from amazon;
"Autel MaxiScan MS300 CAN Diagnostic Scan Tool for OBDII Vehicles"
"Volvo 850 Series 1993 thru 1997 (Haynes Manuals)"
so in a few days i'll be able to check it myself and see what the code says and check the manual. but if anyone has an opinion, i'd wouldn't mind hearing it.
thanks,
jt

There was some discussion about this recently. See link below.

On -my- '96 NA there is only one regulator, and that is the one bolted to the fuel rail with the vacuum line going to the tree. Apparently there is more than one setup that Volvo put on these cars.
What is the car doing?
