Gear Indicator Lights
I bet the bulb is bad. You need to remove the center console to get to the bulb.

Just bought my son a '93 and that same light was out on it - $8 bulb from the dealer. Might as well replace the cigarette lighter bulb while you're at it - same bulb.
Not really too difficult to replace after taking the center console out. Only problem I had was the housing of the new bulb wasn't tight and given the lack of room even after removing the console it wouldn't fit into place. I ended up disconnecting the piece that the bulb connects to that spreads the light to the gear selector settings. With that out I could easily squeeze the bulb housing to get the bulb in place - but it was frustrating.

My one car has been out since I bought the car. I know when I'm in reverse and if I'm not in drive and going forward there is an arrow that lights on the dash. Not worth the trouble just to replace a bulb.
