heater blower motor
cold here in Canada and guess what the blower fan doesn't work intermitently. Happens only on start up, it either work fine or not at all. sometimes re-starting the car causes it to work. If that doesn't than you can here what sounds like a relay clicking when you turn the fan off and on. Any ideas? Oh yeah sometimes the fan motor does make a whining sound.

RE: heater blower motor
I agree with TECH probably the resistor you can find more on the forum about this. Mine just died the other day and here's how it went 1. I jump started my other car 2. It blew a tail lamp and my fan switch only worked on high 3. two weeks later the high setting doesn't work. I hear a click from under the dash when I put it on high only. I have the resistor and am going to replace next week. My blower squealed before all this so I'm going to get one of these too. I love the classafieds.Junkyards have em too

RE: heater blower motor
I too agree with Tech. I would search for a used heater blower and motor. Ihave a used heater motor I took out of my son's 850. It was squeaking a bit so I replaced it and onceI dribbled oil on the bushings and bearings everydayfor a week. It no longer squeaks when bench tested so I was going to hold on to it for a spare, but if you really need it Iwould let it go at a very reasonable price.

If the heater resistor bank checks outO.K. then check the heater maximum speed relay.
This particular relay is only activated when the highest fan speed is selected (position 4 on mine). This relayis designed to(1) closethe heater fan motor hard onto a12v supply and (2)switchthe resistor bank out of the heater fan motor circuit as the resistors areno longer required.
If this relay starts to operateintermittently or goes faulty, then you will most certainly experienceproblems with your heater fan motor.
