Hello, 850 shifter problem (5-month old post)

Hey i have a 96 volvo 850 and the only way i can shift out of park is when i press the shiftlock ovveride button. It wont when i depress the brake pedal. Does anyone know whats wrong?

Your PNP switch is probably bad. Do a forum search for more information.

I would assume your shift micro switch is reaching its service life. The PNP switch prevents the engine from starting with the shifter in other than Park/Neutral.
