Default Transmission which one?

I have a 93 auto and would like to put in a used transmission, But I was wondering if another year from an 850 would work? I have read that they will mate up but will have issues with speed sensors? Is this correct. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this? Any help would be appreciated.

Why is the car worth replacing the transmission? Lots of parts from later years do not swap w/ '93 models. Does this give you the opportunity to consider a later model & upgrade (turbo model)?

It is a car that I picked up cheap and would like to resell. I have 15 other volvos and was wondering if any of the others would work? As I have found out the 93 year is pretty much by itself. Just wondering if any other years would work? Thanks

Seeing as how 93 M56Ls will bolt up to any year, I imagine that other autos should bolt into that. Can't give you my word though.
