A half a quart every 3-4000 miles is not bad. Our 95 Turbo with 191K on it uses about that much every 3-4K. If you are serious about the car, check all fluids, ask for maintenance records, and ask for proof of when the timing belt and all timing belt rollers and tensioner were last changed. The belt, etc is good forroughly 7 years of 70,000 miles so if it is not benn changed, it is way overdue.

It is not uncommon for turbo's to leak some oil due to the high pressures they are under. What is the guy asking for the car and what year is it?

The copper crush washers are prone to leaking on the lines and some times you can just snug them up a bit and it may subside.
