I just got my car "1996 850-Rback from the mechanic "blown head gasket" and now it needs a
mass air sensor. my question is; will one from a 1996 960 2.9L fit my car? they look exactly the same. I need to get this car going again to get to school!sadly my other volvo"240" is stuck at the bottom of the hill. It bogs down in first thenstalls [&o]

Thank you. They must have mixed up the picture. Im searching ebay and noticed the newer model volvos air mass sensors are all compatible with each other. Now i found one that is for a 1995 850 non turbo, the picture looks completely different than the one on mine. Do you know of any that are compatible with my model, 850-r. why do parts for my particular model have to be so rare!

 

The '95 should work.

UPDATE** I hope this is gonna fix it. I started up the car today, starts up right away, idols fine for 15-20 seconds thenhessitates like the fuels being cut off and onthen dies. when i give it gas "higher rpm" does the same thing hesitates like the fuels being cut off and on but does not die. white smoke comes from the tail pipe.

 

the MAF solved the problem. Notice a line coming of the intercooler pipe was off, blowing oil every where. got that fixed up. Runs better than ever. Thanks for the help.

Never let the oil go south of the MIN mark on the dippy stick.

BTW, the wagon in the pic has "60689", and I hope it isn't the selling price[8D].
