Default Hesitation when going WOT...

Hi, recent owner of a fantastic auto 850 T-5 with 140 xxx kms. The car was well maintained by two senior owners bumper to bumper. Out of curiosity, i get on the highway and floor it... What happens is, it coughs before inputing all of its power. Why is this? Filters? Turbo... *hopefully not*.. Do suggest something, please.

Thank you.
Dimitri.

When was the last time plugs, wires, rotor, cap, pcv, fuel filter, etc., were changed?

I agree, esp plugs. Get original volvo and make sure of the gap. Older 850 like fresh plugs, cap and rotor more often than the manual suggests. Vacuum lines get dry and crack a lot too. If it runs smoothly through moderate acceleration with a nice punch to it, the turbo is probably ok.

Have you checked out the 850 new owners thread on here? Lots of good advice about what to check as far as what work may neef to be done?

I have a 96 platinum high pressure turbo - love it! Although its on its last legs...

Just needs a tune up man.... Usually the hesitation is the old plug wires but you still want to do a full tune up, and you should be fine.

Oh, one more thing to check. These cars have a hidden problem with the turbo intake tubes, when they get old, they get a little soft, when they get a little soft, they sometimes collaspe under WOT. You can see it by starting the car, opening the hood, pumping the throttle and watching the intake tubes. I seen a video once where the guy was making his intake tube collaspe when he reved his engine.

Rspi / happened to me on my plat. More likely with the high pressure turbo, too. This usually causes a feeling of having a rev limiter on the car, tho. It kick great on the boost, but then flatlines when the hose collapses, like a govenor.. Very strange sensation, lol
