Ive had them for 2 going on 3 years I bought my headlights first and bought my HIDs separate Keep in mind that the bulbs on the lights are H1's and it will say "No HID" on a sticker on the headlight assembly, but Ive never had a problem... I am happy with the headlights aside from the UV coating breakdown see the pic below.

I have bought my HIDs from the same guy about 6 different sets now for various cars and bikes. Here is his ebay store-->HID-Technik items - Get great deals on Xenon Single Beam HID Kit items on eBay Stores!. 2-year FULL warranty and he is a pleasure to deal with. Plus his replacement bulbs are only $12 if you want another color. I usually stick with 5K or 6K

There are a bunch of kits out there Ive tried two but it doesnt last long at all, but the best way Ive found is the good old wet-sanding and polishing.. I havent done it to the 850 yet but I did it to the Womans Lexus and its been about 2 months and they still look clear and new. Ill post some before and after pics after Ive done mine..
Here is the video that I like the most the concept is the same even if your not using the buffer..YouTube - Headlight Restoration - Wetsanding and Polishing HD

That was the answer I was looking for. Sounds like its plastic or plastic.
When I pulled mine apart to paint them I made a mold of the plastic lens and brought it to a glass co here in miami, they said they could make it but it would run $90 to $100 per lens ... So it is possible..
I was looking at a set of the Black Jewel lights, and I found out that the Lenses are GLASS..
There are some for sale on ebay and some on other forums, But I have not found the Matching corners yet...

as far as refinishing the headlights correctly i do it for a living. Mask off the headlamps with the green 3m masking tape you get from advance. Grab some 1000 grit sandpaper and a spray bottle of a solution of water and ammonia. wetsand the headlights until the whole light is a evenly dull.. if that makes sense, then grab some spray clear coat from auto zone. If you want a professional clear you CAN get uv resistant professional clearcoat in an aerosol can at a automotive paint store. apply a quick even light "dust" coat first, then two heavy coats. And they will look BRAND new
