Default How to remove door window seal

on my 850 drivers door I've got rust (the only rust on the car) on the top of the passenger side front door, right under the rubber window gasket. How do you remove that gasket? Does the whole window have to come out? The rust is underneath that gasket, gasket really should be removed before I repair and repaint it. thanks, dave

Hey Dave, it may be cheaper and easier to replace the door. That's my plan. I have seen doors for $50. There is a screw to remove to get the seal out. Step 17 here shows the screw for the rear door, maybe the front door is similar.

Default window

I have considered that, but the rest of the door is fine, not rusty on the bottom, hinges nicely. The rear passenger door has a couple of small dents. If I can get that rubber strip off it would be easy to just fix and paint in place. My fender is kinda messed up (like that when I bought the car) bought a straight, rust free fender last weekend for 30 bucks at my local U pull it yard (arent those places great?) but once looking into painting technique, I really should paint the fender and both doors, blend back to the taillights. These little projects seem to expand dont they? See photo, not my car, but this is the rusty spot. Dave

That trim just lifts off. I would just scrape the rust off and touch it up with the kit the dealer sells.

Default trim

rspi- OK thats helpfull info, I figured I had to gut the door to get to some annoying pop rivets or something like that. It's a peculiar place for rust to start I think, top of the door? wonder how that started. I'll poke around soon. Gonna prime my fender today! Dave
