I did not reset mine to match when I did it. Figure it was less than 1,000 miles so why bother. I didn't let it go long before fixing.

I guess I'm a cave man. I have the thing on the table and don't know how to get the blue thing off the unit? Is there screws on the back of it?

I got it. Three screws on the back of it.

Also, to answer my earlier question... I have the VDO odometer and you can not turn the mileage unless you crank the miles digit up one mile at a time. If you have a drill with some kind of soft wheel bit on it you can set it to slowly turn the miles while you watch tv or something. It took me about 15 mintues to add 600 miles.

You can press out the metal on which the numbers are located and than make any combination your heart desires.

Watch out only to match the barrels when reassembling. They have a "dent" . Take a look at them prior to taking them apart and you will notice what I mean. Otherwise they will not turn correctly and you will have half of a number and half of the next one in the opening.

The first time I tried by the "drilling" method I only broke the big gear.

Hopefully Rspi doesn't still (2 yrs ago) have that odometer laying on the table scratching his head

On something like this pictures would be a big help to show the dimples you're talking about.

I marked in the pic the part you need to push back (no need to push it completely out if you are only changing the first numbers)
