How long should the interior lights stay on after the car is started up? Now that i'm leaving for work and getting home when it's dark everyday, i have noticed that my lights do not automatically turn off quick enough for my liking.

After getting in the car and starting it up, the lights seem to stay on for close to a minute. I would imagine that they should go off after the engine is started or put into gear once the door is closed, but that's not the case.

A minute sounds pretty close.

 

A minute is right when you stop the car and get out, but when you first get in my lights go out as soon as I start the car. I don't drive with the interior light on I know that much.

 

I checked my parrents 94 850 out the other night and theirs definitely goes off as soon as the car is started. Sometimes i get halfway down the block before it turns off...very annoying at night.

I think this has just started happening within the past month, but for a long time i had the interior switch set to be off all the time, so i might not have noticed it before.

 

Turned out to be a missing fuse for the courtesy light timer...put a new one in and all is good.

The simplest answer is usually the right one....

 

I wish I had some simple problems to fix. I would not like my interior light staying on while I drive the car. That's one of the the things I am very sensitive to.
