Interior trim panel on rear lift gate

Interior trim panel on rear lift gate
Greetings all.
In my long quest to get my 97 850 Wagon back to its driving glory, I have this one annoying problem.
The interior trim panel on the lift gate keeps popping off the mounts and eventually snaps the mounts off. After inspecting the mounting trim side of the mount I noticed the plastic holes have cracks on the inside and the hole has spread apart leaving the mount too loose to keep a close fit.
I thought about supergluing a thin washer to the inside part of the mount hole, but that makes the panel too thick and the clip will not grab and hold on.
Barring the purchase of a repalcement trim panel, is there a way to strengthen the recepticle without increasing the thickness of the plastic. The clips have a very small tolerance.
Many thanks to the answers to my earlier posts.
Tom.
