well every time i try to start my car sometimes it will start up right away and sometimes it will turn on then die but like all the lights on the dash will turn on i would have to keep giving it gas so it can try to start and once it starts and i keep giving it gas for a while till it starts idling on its own then it runs fine...any ideas why this could be happening? here's a link to a video i recorded of it not starting for a while then starts https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...75206985224824

i don't really know too much about cars but i'm trying to learn as i go. whatever you guys tell me i will just google it so i dont keep asking you guys to dumb things down for me.

Does the car have a CEL?

 

 

it doesn't have Check Engine Light on but it does have the SErvice light on and i uploaded the video to youtube to show you.

 

For one, you should hold the key longer.

 

none of that stuff shown on the video has been happening to my car... but someone else was telling me it might be the fuel pump?

 

Based on your symptoms I would guess fuel pressure problem; most likely fuel pump relay or fuel pump itself, but again that's a guess.


Ck pwr to the fuel pump and fuel pressure at the rail and go from there..

I'm going to change the fuel pump today and see what happens from there... ill be sure to post if it helped or if i'm still having trouble

 

good idea; just throw parts at it until you get lucky..

 

Who told you it might be the fuel pump and why did they think so ??

Have you done any of the testing presented to you so far ??

 

i replaced the fuel filter and it started right up no problems that could have just been one of many problems but i got it to start now
