Hi,
I have a 1992 Volvo 850 and the key will not enter the ignition.
The shift **** is fully popped out and the override is all the way up.
I saw another thread where the user used a sharpened screw driver to open up the entrance to the tumblr, which seems to be the same issue Im having. Just want to double check before I start banging away at the ignition.

 

I would like to attempt replacing the lock cylinder but there is no way I can do that if I cant even insert the key. Any help is appreciated. If im in the wrong forum please let me know as well.

 

Do you have another key you could try? If not, very carefully try the screwdriver trick to see if you can get the ignition to turn. EIther way it sounds like you are going to be in the market for a new ignition switch

you think the ignition switch is preventing the ignition lock cylinder from opening?

 

I think something is stuck inside of it. Get a flashlight and see.
