Default Key won't turn ignition anymore??

Hey guys,
Recently I want to shut off my 94 850 and suddenly the key wouldn't turn off, I looked online and it said it was either the shifter or shift lock overide but both were perfect up so I gave the key a bit of force and the turn did go to the off postion however know when I go to use it this morning the key won't turn at all?? It's stuck in the off postion, how do I get this fixed?

Are you 100% sure that the lock is fine? Sometimes they look fine and there's a tiny part out of place, and that's enough for the key not turning.

Hope I'm not stepping out of bounds, I'm kinda of a noob in the whole mechanic stuff.

I've had a similar issue before, I had to try to turn my steering wheel while attempting to turn the key.

i had a similar issue, i could turn the car off but i couldn't turn the key to the lock position to remove the key. the key was stuck in the ignition. I checked the cables for the shifter under the center console and it was filthy. After wiping off the dust, old lubricant and what looked like spilled soda/coffee, i resprayed everything with a silicone lubricant and moved the shifter from Park and selected all the gears several times and that solved the problem. It was so gummed up, the linkage must not have been in sync with the ignition, basically, the ignition didn't know the car was in park, allowing me to remove the key.

It seems as if your lock tumblers are worn to the point that they are no longer "clicking" when you insert and try to turn the key. It's these same tumblers that give the key that "hard to remove" feel.

Might not hurt to spray a lubricant into the cylinder to see if you can free up the cylinder. Nothing to lose.
