Default Knee Bolster removal

I'm trying to get to the blower motor on my '96 850 so I can lubricate it. I've got the glove box out, and the lower trim piece out, but there is a pin on the knee bolster that hits the threads of the left side bolt keeping that side of the knee bolster from dropping down and out from under the dash. I've seen lots of posts about this process, but never any mention of the pin holding the left side of the knee bolster on its bolt. I've tried bending the pin back but no luck. Has anybody drilled that pin out or done anything else so the bolster can drop down?

No cutting required. The thin metal of the bolster is stuck in the treads of the bolt stud. You have to work it out. Pull harder or push it a little one way or the other.

Thanks so much. I'll give it another try.

I've taken out many of these, all you need to do is pull or push it down. It will slide of the last pin/bolt making a ripling sound as it goes acroos the threads. Also the blower motor has a few wiring harness plugs as well as a wiring harness attached to it that don't need to be unplugged, only the one in the side that operates tha motoer needs to be unplugged. The others just slide towards you to come off the motor, it has 4 ( I think) torx screws in, then you need to wiggle it out. I'm not sure if you would be able to lube it or with what, I would think a dry lube would work best (graphite powder perhaps). I just replace mine with one from the junk yard from a newer, less milage car, it worked fine. Short money too.

Thanks lister99! I guess I was just a little afraid to push or pull really hard for fear I'd rip out some wiring or the support brackets in the process. I'll get more physical with it on my next try.
