Positive Crankcase Ventilation System. It allows pressure to not build up. If you have too much pressure, your rear main seal could pop out, and then it becomes a major PITA.

That would be my quess also. I've got the kit to do my PCV System, but have not got around to it yet. Looks like about three hours worth of work for me. Have to take the intake manifold off to do the job.

It looks to be somewhat difficult. You have to be fairly mechanical to start pulling off your intake manifold. I'm not a mechanic by any means, but I feel I can to this job myself, because I worked with my son in law when we took the head off.

Definatly the pcv system. I would replace it as quickly as possible. Oil will push out seals and destroy them to get the pressure out. Luckily for you the oil fill cap vented first. My car's rear main was the victim from my pcv going out.
You have to take off the intake manifold to replce the pcv system. It isn't too difficult of a job, just time consuming. It took me about 4 hours.
