Default oil in water, oil leaking everywhere.....

ok so as the thread title states I have oil in my water, oil leaking from what appears to be the oil drain on the turbo, foam/water in my oil and oil goo in my turbo charge hoses. other than that my car still runs fine, it has plenty of power and gets 22mpg. I've just done a full stage 0 and all of these problems still exist. so now im on the hunt for an engine to rebuild and swap in. If anyone has any feedback on where i can pickup a decent engine for fairly cheap i would be very thankful. also i'm planning on a full rebuild so what would i need as far as gaskets and such and where to get them? thanks in advance.

BTW im located in western washington; 1995 850 turbo

why don't you rebuild the motor you have? sounds like you have a head gasket leak or cracked block, yikes.

Reason being as to why I don't rebuild the one I have is because its my only vehicle and I don't want to get the head pulled off only to find a cracked block or head.....this way I can keep downtime to a minimum. Also being unemployed and going back to school in the fall doesn't really help, lol

fcp for parts would be the best place to start. He's on the forum and his signature has a discount voucher

You sure you have a bad head gasket or cracked block? The mixing of oil and coolant can be from a problem with the radiator too if I'm not mistaken.

Does your oil look milky? I bet you have a blown head gasket. I would just try to find someone parting a car, you can get 100k mile motors for 500 bucks and throw it in. No point in rebuilding a motor unless you are going to be modding it or there's something wrong with the motor.

You will go to the expense & trouble of replacing the motor but not pull the head off to check / replace the head gasket? Fixing your problem will undoubtedly be cheaper & faster than an engine swap.

*update* I just got my car off the lift and turns out that the majority of the oil that's leaking is coming from my RMS. Which means I have to pull the engine regardless of if I fix this one or find a different one to drop in. This car is my only vehicle so I need to keep downtime to a minimum but once everything is said and done the car should be practicaly new. I will keep you guys informed on what I decide to do with it.

Okay... if there is oil in your coolant, as opposed to coolant in the oil... you most likely have a blown oil cooler inside the radiator- this is a common problem. You will need to change the radiator if, in fact, this is the case. Also, it is a PAIN to get all the oil out of the cooling system- you have to flush everything multiple times, and then you'll need to change hoses, either all of them now, or one- by- one as they fail due to oil contamination. If your rear main seal is leaking, change the PCV system while the engine is out, and don't forget to clean the 2 ports where it attaches to the block.

Well it is oil in the water, not the other way around. So I think you just saved me some money and downtime. The PCV system was just replaced probably 900 miles ago. So i know thats good. Whats the average time for a rms replacement job? Ive got everything i need, cherry picker, engine stand, the whole nine. Also any way to check that it is the oil cooler in the radiator for sure without just replacing it? Other than the obvious symptom of oil in my cooling system.

If you pull the radiator you should be able to pressure test the oil cooler at about 20 psig to check if it holds pressure or not. Good luck!
