Locked e brake
Ok here's a new one. I had the drivers side of my car raised on stands to work on the exhaust. I had the ebrake engaged before I jacked it up. I'm also 99% sure I had the stands positioned correctly. I do my work and lower the car. I backed it out and started off down the road, when I felt and heard a boom from the rear of the car. This was followed by a loud squealing. I immediatley recognized my ebrake was on but wouldn't disengage. I drove it a quarter mile to my mech, where he told me the brake was stuck but I had already worethe pads down. They don't rub anymore, but every hard right I make the brake light comes on. Any ideas as to how the brake cable became snagged so it won't release? I'm almost positive I didn't pinch it where I put the jack stand, but one never knows.
The same thing happened to my '95 &50. Turns out the E brake shoes were so rusted that
The friction material had come loose from the shoes, causing the E brakes to stick on even
with the cable relaxed completely.
