Well, I got the transmission fixed. Just bought a used one from Aurora Auto Wrecking up in North Seattle and it went in easy. Swapped over the PNP switch, put in some bright red ATF, rather then the brown that was in there along with some new coolant and it works like a charm! I'm happy that my car actually moves now. The only problem I have with it is that I hear a slight whine when in gear. Anybody think this will eventually go away or is this just a woe since I have a used tranny?

If not drive it some more and see what happens.

If the fluid is up there is not much you can do from the outside. You may have to live with it. Bummer.

That's what I'm thinking. Oh well. I'll have to wait until the transmission dies to get a new one :P. But the fluid is a good color.

I just made it up to Lake Chelan, a good 3.5 Hour drive from Seattle. Transmission held up like a champ in 3rd gear pull when passing people at 80+MPH. I also got a good 30+MPG with the FMIC instalation, that's on the trip computer anyways. I never got that high on the trip computer off the stock intercooler. Maybe 26-27MPG.

Hmm, any way to fix hard shifting? I'm starting to see hard shifting, but everything seems fine except for the whine.

Ps. Sorry i've been dead for a while.

You mean like dropping into gear? How's your lower torque mount?

Mine seems to be down shifting a little hard and it shifts hard when I go into reverse to back into my garage. Also seems like it's starting to slip a little. How do you check the fluid level on these?

From shifting to 1st to 2nd seems to be a lot harsher then it was on my old transmission. Fluid is still good. After the install of the used transmission it was put in with brand new fluid. I should have gotten some Lucas, however I'm already at the top of the fluid line, so I don't think I can put anything else in there unless I drain some.

couldn't tell you. Would that cause it even if it's only between 1st and 2nd?

The rubber gets soft or torn. The torque of changing gear causes a whipping effect.

When we first got our S70, it was shifting hard between 1st and 2nd. I replaced them on both of my cars. Made a big difference. The ones from ipd do transmit vibration so if you don't want that, get the oem one from FCP.
