Hi there, Bought my self a t5 today and owner said that the clutch is slipping. I can sort of understand what he is on about and i of course took advantage of the problem and got 250 off the asking price. Im in a little situation now as he was saying he knew a garage that would re furb the clutch for 25 "uk pounds" but i dont want to mess around with pulling the gear box off. The car is struggling to pull off,as if i were pulling off in 3rd gear if you get what I mean,or pulling off with the hand break up. I'm getting no crunchin when putting it into gear and have no problems in any other gear,its just when its pulling off. I did say to previous owner "do you think its just a cable loose" and he replied,no its deffo the clutch going but it should be fine for a few month? what do you guys think it may be and what would you advise be? It is a 95 model and I have a 96 which is rotting away. Done some checking for clutchs and a hole clutch is 180 uk pounds and im thinking for that I could give my mate 50 quid and he would pull the hole gear box off my other one and put it on the car with problems. can clutchs be refurbed or is he lying?i say that as my brother said it is not possible but tbh with you me or my brother have never been in this situation before. 25 for it to be refurbed would be great "if it is possible" but what i want to know is,is what is exactly a matter.is it the master cylinder or some other part or the hole clutch? any advise would greatly be appreciated. many thanks in advance
