The swap is well underway now...got a bunch of work done today...got the old auto shifter out finally, took the front seat out to give myself some working room

The Shifter Cables in... Didn't put the new shifter housing in yet...was having a hell of a time making the cables fit. Is there a trick to that? I know they gotta slide through the holes and get clipped in but there's like no slack on those suckers.. Do i need to pull the cables through the firewall pass thorough more?

Also needed to get some stuff to grease up the shifter ball joints. Theres a ton of dirt and stuff on the new shifter, so i wanna clean that up before putting it together.

Got the old brake pedal and bracket out....that thing was a major pain in the ***. Had to disconnect the steering column and pull it almost all the way out to get the stupid bracket off.

New Pedals ready to go in...need to order a new first...

Took me FOREVER to figure out how to get that firewall grommet pushed in. Originally i had the cables going on the left side, in front of the steering rack... Finally figured out they were supposed to go in behind it instead.

Replaced the rubber bushings on the shifter ends w/ brass bushings too.

Looking really good. I cannot help much on the cables though haven't messed with them myself as of yet.
I want to do this on my car hopefully once I get back to work.

Great job. My son saw this and was wondering how much it cost (or at least an estimate). He would love to put a 5 speed in the 95 Turbo sedan

Yep...plan on 1k at least. I paid 800 for the trans (used from a '95 850 na w/ ~90k miles), pedal set/shifter/cables, master and slave cylinders/hoses, pedal brackets, and a bunch of misc clips and stuff. I needed another ~$200 for the "R" Clutch....could have gotten the original clutch kit included but it wouldn't hold the power so got something that would take it and not instantly wear out.

I have found a few places around here and in Windsor, canada that you can get the trans alone for about $300...but all the other parts add up very quicly if buying new which is why i went with the 'kit'...which can really be found from any manual 850...if you're willing to part it out yourself.

Bah

I'd love to do this but it is TOTALLY not cost effective for me. See, I have the SC300 that needs to be pampered first.

Nice job and nice car! I can't wait to see the results.
