Default Mechanic Advice Needed!

Hey folks this is my first time posting a message on here but im hoping to get an answer to my problem. I have a 96 volvo 850 and on my way home tonight I went to put my driver side window (electric) and the switch is jammed so I cant push it down. On the other hand if I push up on my switch it works fine it just will not budge when I push down on it??? Can someone possibly give me an answer as to what is causing the jam? I've never had a problem with it in the past, this is the first occurance. I've looked inside as best I could and couldn't figure out what could be causing the problem. Any answers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Physically the switch wont move? something internally in the switch probably broken. Get one from a junk yard....they take about 15 seconds to pop out if you're very careful, and they plug right in.

If the switch is jammed, likely an internal part of it has broken. If the switch moves but doesn't function it's likely that the switch is now bad and needs to be cleaned or replaced. These switches build up some kind of carbon on the infernal contacts over the years. Maybe from the tiny electrical arching that happens when we operate them over and over again.

I figured it out! After getting a flashlight and looking in the little hole thats in the switch I realized it was the window icon which had caved into the switch and was jamming it. Well after so redneck engineering (toothpick wrapped in duct-tape) I got it out and the windows operational. LoL and duct-tape saves the day again! Thanks everyone for the help.
