Modding an 850GLT w/140,000 mi?
My wife and I are still working on our car problem and considering all possible options. What makes it hard, is that we love our Volvo so much... or at least, I do. haha.
Another plan we're considering is getting just a cheaper daily driver type car and then throwingthe rest of themoney at the Volvo.
My master plan would most likely be sport exhuast, ecm/chip reflash and 17" wheels to start. My question is, would it be worth putting go fast parts on a Volvo that already has 140,xxx on the clock? Basically, I'd like to turn the Volvo into a mile R clone (hp/torque wise) or close to it. Anything in the 200hp + range would make me happy.
Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Sell it and buy an R.
I'm pretty sure the 97 GLT has the low pressure turbo, so you are already getting 190HP. I just can't see putting a lot of money into a car that is not quite what you want to begin with. I can see keeping and driving as is along with maintaining it, but not modding it. Just my opinion though. Now if it was already the HPT model (T5) then you could make it into an R clone.

yeah, stage 0 is on the way anyway. It's about to turn 140,000 exactly, so it's time for the timing belt, full tune up, etc. We're just running through the options. And I need something to keep me busy because it's slow at work, so I figured I'd post some.
Thanks for the input though. It will go into our considerations. Now, if I could just find that money tree I planted, all would be well. [8D]
