Default My 850 won't start!!!!

I just went out on my lunch break to get my cell phone & check my messages I went to start up my car to roll down the windows. It turned over intially but it shut off right away. I tried to start it up again & it wouldn't. It sounds like its trying to turn over but won't. There is gas in it the battery isn't dead all the lights work inside & out & the radio works as well. It just won't start. It did this once before but I let it be for a while & went back & it started right up no problem. I have noticed recently it has been acting "funny" when starting up. I assume I need a new starter any ideas?

Also my oddometer doesn't work how is this fixed? is it replaced or what?

Any ideas would be helpful at this point I am stuck at work. (glad I don't get off until 6:30pm)

I just went out again & it still won't start! My wife said she had a similar problem when she drove it yesterday. She sat there & pumped the gas for a while & kept trying it until it finally started up.

If you have battery power and the starter keeps turning over but the engine doesn't catch, it sounds like your fuel pump isn't pumping, or maybe the fuel filter is clogged to the point where there isn't enough fuel being delivered.

For the odometer, usually a small gear in the dashboard breaks a tooth and causes the problem. It costs about 25 bucks and it's recommended that you replace two of them at the same time. Search the forum 'cause there's plenty of write-ups, including one with some great step-by-step photos.

Not likely to be the fuel pump or the coil. Mine did the exact same thing... it's the cam position sensor - CPS. It is on the rear cam on the drivers side of the motor. Very easy fix, only two bolts. On mine it solved all kinds of issues.

I've got a buddy of mine that has a junk yard. He just gave me one. If you want to get a new one, here's a link:

I think they had the best price.

I'm having it towed today it started up the day after I originally posted this I drove it home with no problem then my wife thought it would be a good idea to take it to the local corner store the next day & its been sitting in front of there a few days now. I'm having it towed & having the guys at the shop give me an estimate. I hope its something simple though thanks for all the feed back I'll let you guys know as things change so we can use this as a point of refernce for others

Got it fixed. Had to replace the fuel pump. Problem now though seems like my exhaust is getting louder as the days go by might be time for a replacement. Thanks for all your help!
