No you're right. Its not. This door cotrols air flowing into the (bottom half) airbox from the front of the vehicle.

I have read this entire thread looking for the answer to the original question.
Sorry, I did not see the answer and I still need the answer. It is not on the diagram that is on the hood on my 1998 V70 non-turbo.

One off the air filter goes to the front lower portion of the box. There is a valve there.
The other goes over to the engine. One plastic hose is usually white and the other is black.
