New 850R owner(hopefully)
Just wanted to say hi to all the guys and gals here, if all goes well, I will soon be the owner of a super clean red 850R model wagon. Belongs to a good friend of mine and has been well taken care off. He just did the timing belt, new ac evap core. Comes with a decent set of winter tires, but I will need to get a good set of summer tires. She has 126K miles on her. I will be the third owner of it, if everything works out ok. Car has had some mods including a highpressure turbo, exhaust ect. I have ridden with him and that wagon will really move when it needs to. Everything works as it should and its been garage kept. I tow an antique garden tractor to shows a couple times a year and so does he, thus the trailer hitch is already on the car. It was a toss up between a super clean 240 wagon and this one. This car has the advantage of me knowing how it was taken care of and all the major work is done for now. He said the front end was nice and tight at last state inspection. What all do you other 850R owners run for a good, long wearing all season radial? I will be shopping for them soon. As soon as our Suzuki Aerio SX awd wagon sells the Volvo will be mine. Cheers Mike and Michele T

If the 850 R has the 17" wheels the tires are few and far between. Factory calls for 205/45/R17, but most people run 215/45/R17 since there are quite a few more tires available. Look for a thread I started about steering problems and vibration. It was all caused by tires and there is quite a bit of conversation about what tires to buy. I put Kumho's on my 15" wheels and I'm very pleased. I'm either going Yohohama or Kumho on the 17's shortly. Good luck!

Its been awhile, but if I remember correctly, it was changed to build a tad bit more boost. Its enough that he replaced it with a V90 wagon now that his teenage daughter is driving. He is in no hurry to sell it, so its just waiting for me to get my other car sold so I have the cash to buy his. I am already planning E code headlight glasses, yellow fog lamp bulbs and putting my genuine german licence plate on the front. Its got its winter shoes on right now, but winter is bout over and the old summer tires have cords showing. He is driving it once a week if the weather is nice, otherwise its in his garage. Even the interior is super clean. I will get a nice seat cover to protect the leather when I am going to and from work.I will check out the tire posts as I get closer to that time. Mike

Sounds like a nice car.
About the seat covers, I'd advise you to not do that. Just maintain the leather by using the leather products that keep it moist. The seats are heated, and you won't be able to feel the warmth thru your covers. Secondly, the seats have airbags built into them (on the sides). You don't want to mess w/ your safety.

by cover, I mean just a simple sheet under my back side, I work in maintence at a nursing and rehab home, so I can be a tad dirty after work, dont want to get that nice tan leather dirty now. I am aware of the side air bags. I will post pics when I get it home. Trying to post the car I am selling everyplace I can to move it. Supposed to be really nice here the next two days, gonna wash it and take new pics for ebay. Cheers Mike

Thats the case with most online auto selling locations, full of scammers and the like. Hopefully it will sell soon! I have to admit that the 850R wasnt even on the list when I listed the car for sale. I need something else besides my 1998 Grand Cherokee to tow my custom antique JD garden tractor to shows with. The Jeep gets deplorable gas milage, doesnt even break 20mpg running without the trailer. The friend selling the car, is into IH garden tractors so he has towed previously with the 850R so all the work with wiring and the hitch is already done, as is the ac evap core and timing belt. I wish I had a good pic of it now. The more I think and talk about it, the more I want it. Cheers Mike
