Default New to Volvo.... Goodbye to BMW

Hey all... first post... bought my wife a 2008 V50 in February and enjoyed it so much I started looking for a Volvo myself. A free '94 850 just fell into my lap last week, and even though it needs a LOT of love, I sold my '96 328i today and am looking forward to restoring it.

I'll likely have many q's over the time to come but thought I'd go ahead and introduce myself.

Thanks!

Welcome! The 850 is a great car and pretty easy to work on. We returned my wife's 325 when the lease was up and picked up an 850 for her as we didn't want another car payment. We've put on over 43000 miles on it in the last 2 years and it has never let us down.

Not turbo, and she needs some love. But this car...I can just see all the potential, and it's going to be a great family car. Much safer and more reliable (already) than my 328i. Had my BMW been left in this shape it wouldn't have even thought about running.

This one starts and runs no problems. Ball joints, tires, alignment, ABS sensor, blower, and timing belt through this weekend...

Cool.. And you cant beat free..
I have a 94 850, good car.
Although theres some mix match since theres 94 and 94 1/2 just so you know..
( but by bumpers and headlights could your car be 95?)

Enjoy and have fun working on it

Looks like a early '94 or a '93 to me, but I'm sure you know what year it is because you have it and the title. That front bumper and those wheels (which I love) are usually found on '93 years. Looks like it has leather, sunroof, newer head lights, and my favorite color. Cool.

This is my 94 850
It has the single bulb headlights, the side trim is narrower than 95's, also the bumpers have a different trim. Although it has the 94 1/2 5 lug wheels, wide timing belt, a arms, etc..

Yeah, when I have her resprayed I'm thinking about doing all the black molding in the body color too. Value in the car is totally gone, so I can have fun with it and do whatever I want.

I like that C70 look so I'm thinking body trim matching the body color. Have been toying with the idea of a new color. It'll either be black or crimson if I change it.

My buddy just painted his 855 turbo and he did both bumpers in the same green as the wagon, they look kinda weird.
Maybe if the car was black and not hunter green..

Im polishing and maybe re-clear to see how it ends.. If not maybe flat black..
