Default No Heat :(

Hey everyone.

New to the Volvo scene, just picked up a '94 850. I noticed that when I have the dials turned to maximum heat even with the car running for sometime the air never seems to get that hot. It always seems to be at room temperature. The AC side does blow nicely though.

My first guess would be that the heat core needs to be replaced. Sound about right or is there anything else I should be looking into first?

Thanks...

Hiller

What does your temperature guage show? If it is not somewhere about half way between cold & hot suspect a faulty engine thermostat. Mine was stuck open so the engine never got to working temp on cold days.

I will have to check on that. I can't recall every seeing even half way up, but I will make it a point to notice where it is at from now on. What's considered normal amount of time for the engine to hit normal operating temperature on average, say 10-15 minutes of running?

Thanks for the tip..

I would say about 15 min. would be normal.

I would check the thermostat. If nothing looks bad there then next would be looking at the Blend doors.
