Default Odometer bronken for many years...when I replace can I get the actual mileage from anywhere?

Alright guys, quick question...I have a 1994 850 with the broken odometer for about 6 years. Can I get the actual mileage from the computer easily or do I have to the dealer to get the actual mileage? Or does the computer not even keep track?

Thanks for your advice/input...

On a '94 you can read it from the diagnostic socket to the instrument panel. So long as the instrument panel is the original it will give you the correct mileage.

1) Switch ignition on to position II

2) Connect the fly wire to socket - A7

3) Push button 5 times

4) When LED comes on and stays on, enter code 1-1-1 as follows:
- press the button once when LED is still on
- wait for LED to go out and come on again
- press the button once when LED is still on
- wait for LED to go out and come on again
- press the button once when LED is still on
- read off response, which will be the last three digits of the odometer miles

5) Repeat steps #3-4, but enter code 1-1-2 (that is, press the button twice on the last step); read off the response, which will be the first three digits of the odometer miles. If you have less than 100,000 miles, the first digit will read as 10 blinks.

The is a very long thread on it here if you have trouble.

To answer your question, yes, you should be able to adjust the mileage on the odometer after you fix thegear. I did just this on our 1995.

It is not that tough to do but you cannot just rotate the gears to the desired miles. I chucked up a pencil into a battery drill and ran it counterclockwise on the big gear so that the odometer clicked off atabout 10 miles/second.

EDIT: OK - I need to noodle around the forum to figure out how to upload pictures but I added the procedure to adjust the odometer to this thread. End Edit

It is on the third page or so.
