Default Oil

After long running, i noticed that the cap of the engine becomes covered with the oil. today i think it effected the engine cooling system, increasing the temperature - i didn't know why it increased, and my dad suggested that it might be not sufficient oil amount - the temperature was increasing every time i was moving up the hill or accelerating.

after stopping the car, after approximately about two hours i checked the oil level and it was merely about over minimum

i traveled today about 500 miles (not kilometers)

Check the vent system something might be clogged causing excessive crank case pressure.

But the car running hot is most likely another problem like a thermostat.

If never been serviced, your PCV components should be replaced as a kit. This requires a new intake manifold gasket as well, since the manifold has to be removed to get to the PCV components. After the PCV system has been taken care of, I would also replace the oil cap gasket, dipstick O-ring & whatever else that is leaking.

When was the last oil & filter change? Enough coolant in the reservoir (and should not be brown in colour)? Does cooling fan work? If the thermo has gone south, it is either stuck closed or stuck fully open.

Let us know these additional info.

I am sorry for such a stupid question but i don't know what the PCV is

As for the oil and filter, i changed it in November - and i still have to go about 4000 miles; the smoke in the winter was white and normal.

Coolant is above minimum level, but it is not igniting the cooling system lamp on the dashboard;

I didn't change the cooling fan, but i changed the cap of antifreeze reservoir in December, because the previous cap just cracked. Also i think that the proportion of the antifreeze and water is not equivalent - water in the reservoir is more than 60 % (could this be the reason?)

PCV is the 'positive crankcase ventilation' system on these cars which allows the excessive pressure inside the crankcase part of the engine to vent into the intake of the engine. The easiest symptom to diagnoseblocked PCVwould be to start the car and remove the engine oil dipstick and see if you notice a blowby of white smoke thingy. You will be able to find many threads on this site to guide you on how to fix it.
The composition difference of coolant will not give you a big overheating problem but little difference in the temperature during a normal plain drive and going uphill is normal behaviour but if it is going beyond about 3/4 of the gauge then I will suggest checking the operation of cooling fan(s) and worst case to be the clogged radiator.

Good Luck!

This kit:

Check the model year & trim level (turbo/NA).

I checked the PCV by pulling out the oil dipstick with a warm running engine. There was now smoke or any other billow out of the dipstick tube.

Also, last night i ran the car about 60 miles, but the temperature didn't increased, overheated, though i was moving about 20-40 m/h and couple of times sharply increased the speed to 60-80 m/h

Could this be the reason of the bad fuel - what is the minimum octagon of the fuel which is recommended for the turbo wagons?

Thank you

I run 87 octane in mine and they all run fine. Not sure what you mean by "the temperature didn't increased, overheated"?

The minimum octane rating specified by the MFG is 91.

Did the temp needle register in the red zone? Or did it not warm up? If you are saying that the engine did show a sign of overheating, check for the coolant level in the reservoir, as well as sufficient supply of engine oil. If you do have enough coolant & oil, most likely your thermostat is either stuck closed or stuck fully open, needing immediate replacement.

The temperature needle didn't register in the red zone, but it moved closer to the red zone every time i was accelerating or going up the hill. it was the day before yesterday. that night i checked for the oil and i noticed that the oil cap of the engine was covered with portions of oil. so i added little oil into the engine and yesterday and today the needle was steadily standing in the middle.

the coolant level is above minimum mark.

I still say the thermostat might be broke.
