oil pressure
l need to ask a quick question.l am planning on doing an oil pump pressure test. l want to know what should be the right PSI for the pump?also is it normal for the oil pressure warning light to stay on for one or two seconds and turns off?thank you
Turns on for one or two seconds when ?? When first starting up in the morning, in sharp turns .....
Normal Oil Pressure for my 95 850 turbo is:
Oil pressure is 14 psi (.10 bar) at idle and 43 psi (.30 bar) at 3000 RPM.

Good idea to also change out the oil filter. Especially if you're using a Fram. Hate to bash them but it seems there are a lot of us (me too) that have had problems with lifter noise at start up when using a Fram. Apparently they allow the engine to leak down and then it takes that much longer for the system to pressurize.
Any chance you're running a Fram presently ?? I'm not sure if it would affect your oil light but mine used to tick pretty frequently up till I changed to a different brand.
If you're getting noise then there is definately a physical problem. There is also a chance the pressure is good (no ticking) and your switch is just starting to go out or is out of calibration. You would need to get a hold of an oil pressure gauge and attach it to the engine and take a reading to see if it's the switch or the pump. It could also be the O rings in the oil pan that are allowing too much oil to bleed past during a cold start.
This was on a 98 S70 but should be the same or similar.
