Oil Recommedation

Oil Recommedation
95' 850 GLT Wagon (non-turbo) with 89000 (88878 to be exact, 10 short of 88888) miles
I will be changing the oil on my own for the first time on this car. Prior to this all oil changes were done at the dealer.
What would you recommend?
Should I go for Synthetic
Should I go for semi-synthetic (I guess that is what they call them on the label)
or High mileage (not sure if there is a difference between high mileage and semi-synthetic)
or just regular 10W30.
Cost will not be an issue, and I have original Volvo filters.
I have about a 1000 miles to change the oil, have been doing it every 5000 miles and that makes it easy to remember.
Look to your advice tech.
Regards

RE: Oil Recommedation
5K is good with the Volvo's.In 1999 Volvo reccomended waiting till 7,500 between oil changes.I don't like that long between oil changes.I have seen turbo cars gunk up because people wait to long.If you set a 5000 mile oil change and can't get it done fast then you might max to 7,500.With poeple needing it done at 7,500 sometimes they wait till 10,000 before getting it done.
Until recently I am a Volvo master technician.Worked for the dealer for 6 years.

RE: Oil Recommedation
................and remember, many of the turbos run six plus quarts!!!! 5000 miles is a drop in the bucket!! One of my new autos (Japanese and fast) holds but three plus quarts and the recommendation is 7,500 miles. Now that takes bravery!! Castrol full synthetic is what I have used for 20 plus years in German, British, American, Japanese autos.
