Default Options for Radio

I have seen some posts about the 850 wagon having some hook up cable for the cd changer in the back or glove box? Where are these located? Does it need to be Volvo changer? or can i use any changer?

My radio have the CD button on it.

Is there other options for a after market radio?

Much apprecaited
Matt

Wait, what's your question? Do you want a radio or a headunit (plays CDs).

And you want to put it in your glove compartment?

Hello Matt,

Greetings from Chicagoland.

Since I haven't fiddled around with my radio, use my reply as mere reference.

I believe an aftermarket unit should be fine, most come with wiring instructions. You could also use magazines such as Crutchfield as a reference. I think 850's glove compartment is too small for a CD changer to be nested, so it probably would have to be installed in the cargo compartment, not sure exactly where, though.

Wait till others reply to you, they will be more accurate than I can be.

Some cars come wired and others don't.
You can use an Alpine changer but you will need a little adapter to connect it to the radio.

I bought a Volvo CD Changer that goes in the glove box and the cable and mounting bracketcame with it. I bought it years ago as a one time special at the Volvo dealership for a little over $200. My CD player in the 850 R quit working and I put the changer in and used the cable, but I did not put it in the glove box. I'm thinking about mounting it under the glove box because it takes up the whole box when it it's in there. It's a six disc changer and says Volvo on it. See if you can find one.
