Question Outside Air Temp Erratic

My ambient air temp is haywire. I start the car and it's 6 degrees low, drive 3 minutes and it's 20 degrees low, 5 minutes later it's reading -3 and it's 67 outside, a few minutes later it's reading LO, then 10 minutes after that I look down and it's only 1 or 2 degrees off.

Does anyone have a clue as to what might be wrong with this thing?

you made sure it isn't hanging in behind the bumper somewhere? it actually goes into a hole in the sheet metal sensor part facing DOWN.

if it is touching the radiator or at least really or too close to it it will throw it way off. sounds more like it popped out, and is hanging somewhere.

If it was near the radiator it would be reading high. If the sensor is reading lower than it is, the sensor is most likely shot. There is nothing in the engine bay that would make it read that much lower, unless it is touching the a/c line

When I got the car is was crazy so I purchased a used one from a guy parting out a '96 R and this one has the same issues. I must have a bad wire somewhere.

Oh, it is located in it's bracket in the front spoiler area, not far from the left fog.
