I have a 93 850. The parking brake is not working properly. It will only keep the vehicle from rolling forward and sticks every time you apply it. By sticking I mean you release the handle and the brake remains on. I am trying to find out if anyone has had this problem and if so how did they correct it? I am suspecting the cable. The vehicle in question is actually 600 miles from me and I have a very limited time to fix it for safety inspection purposes. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

sounds like the cables.... where is the car from? winter area with salt and rust? could be the brakes them selfs, but dont see that alot.

 

I hate screwing with parking brakes. Cables are a pain.

My old wagon never had a working P brake.

Winter and road salt can take a toll on these things. Or, it may just be not working properly. Perhaps it is loose?

 

I bought the car last year in northern VA. I have had it in OH for the majority of the time. I am not sure of its past locations. how much of a pain in the @$$ are the cables?
