Default PCV system parts?

I have a 96 850 GLT N/A with 100k. From what I've read about testing for oil pressure build up there is smoke coming from my dip stick and a small oil leak after I shut off the car. I'm looking to change and clean the PCV system which I don't think has been done to this point. Does anyone have a list of the parts Ill need to do the job? IPD has a kit for turbo and non turbo 850,s but I wont use half the parts at a cost of $200.00 I have a non/turbo. Thanks to anyone that can help.

What do you mean you won't use half the parts in the kit?

IPD and FCP sell the PCV kit for 850's turbo and non- turbo in a single kit. I hate spending money on parts Im going to throw away. I was wondering if someone had a parts list for the non/turbo only. 96 850 GLT N/A.

have you searched FCP Euro? I think the kit there was cheaper. Also, I think you would need all the parts listed on IPD. You could probably get away with re using the box after THOROUGHLY cleaning it. The main difference between turbo and non, as far as the pcv is concerned, is the presence of the flame trap on the non turbo and the ptc on the turbo models. Hopefully someone else with a non turbo can chime in because I only ever changed one a turbo model

The black box itself usually isn't the part that's causing the problem. It's basically like a muffler with a baffle. The hoses will rot on the inside and get plugged up. If oil changes are neglected the passages inside the oil pan can get plugged.
If you want to go really cheap just replace the hoses and make sure everything they connect to is open.

Hey I had to do the same thing on mine. Very first repair was the overly complicated PCV system. I got mine from FCP I think for around $170. Only took a couple hrs to do I was really surprised how easy it was to get the intake off. Look through the threads there are pics and all you need to know right here. If it werent for this site I would have been totally boned. Try to use a pic and pull the deposits out on that hole in the side of the block where the black box (I forget what its called) goes down below. You dont wanna have it fall in and be a potential clog some where. Other than that it was pretty much gravy.

Here is what the black box looks like inside. And the passages in the oil pan that connect to it.

Yes, those kits are loaded with parts that you really don't need. If you go to FCP's site you can get the following:
- Oil trap box.
- Hose assembly that goes from the box to the throttle body tube.
- Hose that goes to the top of the engine.
- Short hose that connects the side of the box to the block
- Short hose that connects the bottom of the box to the block.
- Associated clamps, 6 total.

Do clean out those ports on the block. I usually drag the sludge out with a large screw, then run a LONG zip tie town the holes to push the rest into the oil pan. Then change the oil to flush out the sludge (so it doesn't get stuck on the oil pick up).
