Default A potentially dumb question

So I think I need to do my head gasket as well as a few other things. I ordered the head gasket kit from IPD and was wondering if anyone knew if it includes the front crank seal. Any advice or tips to make this head gasket process smoother would be much appreciated as well.

I just wrote a tutorial for that job if that would help. It's a sticky near the top. Best of luck and let me know if you have any questions. Is your's turbo or non?

Also, I am not familiar with the IPD kit (I used all FCPGroton stuff), but I know that the front crank seal is the same thing as the oil pump seal, so if you order one, you don't need the other.

Yes, I have been reading through that. Very well written! Did the oil pump seal come in ur FCP kit? IPD hasn't listed the names of the gaskets in the kit and I've been using the pic they show to identify things.

The oil pump seal (or crank seal) came in the "oil pump gasket kit" (I have all the part numbers and links to them in the tutorial). I chose not to order a "head gasket kit" as I was not sure of exactly what came in it (from a picture as you said). Instead, I ordered the individual parts to make sure of what I was going to have. If I remember right, I think I ended up saving a few bucks too, because the kit would have come with a rear crank seal (rear main) and I did not need that one (wasn't biting off THAT much with it not leaking). Hope this helps.

I sent an email to FCPGroton and it looks like they are going to link to my tutorial when folks are shopping for or buying a head gasket kit (on their new website I was told). YEAH!
