I have a 1995 Volvo 850. My CEL is on and my car will not pass emmissions. I had my codes pulled and it turns out that it needs a EGR valve job. Now, I learned from Tech that it just might be clogged. However, is the job expensive if it does turn out that the whole job needs to be done?

 

I would expect it would take 1 hour labor to replace EGR Valve
and less than $100 for EGR Valve itself -- less than $185 total.

 

Update, My car passed with flying colors. The reason why it did not pass the first time was not because of the cel but because of the traction control (It would not stay steady during test). I took it to Volvo and let them do the emissions test and it passed. I still need to have the egr taken care of but at least I was able to register the car.
