so my dad's vovlo is having problems, it's a 1994 850

first, it wont switch from park to drive without pressing the gear unlock button

second, even he drives it, it wont go past almost 4000rpms and there's almost no torque and it sounds like it's about to die,

he changed the spark plugs/wires/distributor and oil was changed regularly


any idea of what it might be?

Is the shift problem intermitent or all the time?

Is this a turbo model?

 

it used to happen avery now and then, but now it happens all the time
its a 1994 volvo 850 non turbo, wagon

 

Well the shifter problem sounds like the microswitch. As far as the other problem could be a: fuel filter, vacuum hoses, RMP sensor??
