Default problem after problem

k so ive fixed so many problems in my 2001 s40... and ive come across another problem ... my gas gauge is kinda stuck on empty even though i put 20 in the tank about 30 mins ago... this has happened before but it was stuck at 1/2 full when i filled my tank up... and the gauge started to move after i drove half of my tank.....

but yea anyways i had about 4 gallons in my s40 and my gauge was working but i turned my car off to wait for someone and when i turned it back on my passenger noticed my gas was on empty ... but that is inpossible cause i looked at it right before i turned my car off.... how would i fix this problem & how much would it cost?????

o and my 2001 s40 doesnt like to start first try ONLY after i pump gas but it starts up the 2nd try....

Sounds like you have a couple of problems.
1.The fuel guage might need the software download from the Dealer to calibrate it.
2.The long crank time could be many things. The first thing I would check is the fuel pressure regulator. It is mounted on the end of the fuel rail. pull the hose off the intake side at the vaccum port. I will bet a small amount of fuel comes out of it.
If it does the regulator is bad.

Gas gauge I cannot help you.

The long start I fixed today with a $105 fuel pressure regulator. The funny thing is as I was pulling off the vacuum hose for the FPR, I noticed it was cracked about halfway through. So, was it the cracked rubber hose or the FPR itself? IDK as I don't want to mess with a good thing. Check your vacuum hoses before spending good money. The S shaped hose off the FPR is the first one to check.

Like tech said the regulator is most likely leaking and its an easy check.

As for the gauge I would be more likely to check the tank pump/sending unit itself. I do think an upgrade will help this (or is available). I could be wrong.

ok so i replaced both coils , new radiator hose, new coolant temp sensor, new spark plugs over some time..I still have some starting problems and airbag light is on also i have to put in coolant every now and then

my car doesnt like to start after i get gas ( only after i get gas ) the first time i crank it the car feels like it shakes then dies ... then the second time it always turns over but i have to crank it for like 4 seconds??

I just replaced my FPR and went to go get gas and the problem is still there

You shouldn't have to replace coolant. You need to figure out where the coolant is going. Does your windshield fog up and have a sweet smell in the car? That'd be a leaky heater core ($400 parts + 6 hours labor). Coolant in oil? Oil in Coolant? Could be head gasket or bad radiator.

Dont overfill the fuel tank. I remember hearing some stories about topping off the tank leading to some emissions system problems.
