hi guys i forgot to add this on my last post!!!!!!!! when i bought my 1996 850 t5 the service indicator and check engine light kept blinking!!!! basically i had an auto electicrian come round and reset it all(after i changed oil etc). however as you will see in my next post the car then developed an oil leak and within a couple of weeks it ran dry and started knocking!!! the strangest thing of all though is there was no indication of low oil(lights etc). do you guys think that the sparky guy could have done something to the low oil light?? the main reason i ask this is because im 99% sure it worked when i first bought it(as there was little oil due to the head gasket being knackered).also i heard a rumour that the car is meant to cut out when low on oil,is this true?? many thanks guys any help very much appreciated!
maybe i will be able to sleep safe at night(except for the snoring wife!!!

 

The low oil lights should have come on but they are touchy as well. I have seen cars with 1.5 quarts and the lights flashes.
