Default Question on AC

I have heard that volvo's should always have their AC system on so they will cycle still otherwise they can fail or leak...

Truth or myth?

Myth

They have problems with some parts of the A/C and it is going to happen no matter what.

You can keep it off all you want.

If you work by theory then the system should last longer the more it is off. The pressure in the system would be lower with the A/C off.

When it is on the High side pressure is around and over 250 PSI when running low pressure is between 30 to 50 PSI.

Of it pretty much settles at around 50 PSI or so.

Maybe the cycling thing you heard about is so the seals stay lubed... I have heard this before as well.

Yeah it was for cycling them that I heard it. But it sounds like its the theory of dont use it cause it might break. (Duh, OR it might break if you dont use it. It was built therefore it might break)

But if you set the defrost, the A/C compressor kicks in automatically. This applies to the ECC (Electronic Climate Control) but not sure on the manual control type.
