Default quick easy question, how do i know if my car is a t5

Seeing that I am finding out that so much about my car that I thought I knew, I have an odd question.

I found that some of the cars matenence records say t5 on them. And as I am missing some of the easy parts that would have been clearly badged, where do I look to know for sure?

What year? do you have a turbo? is it between pre-97? If so then T5. If it's 97 and has a 15G then T5.

Alright, looks like I should have a t5 then. It's a 1995 with a turbo. I am guessing any pre 97 850 turbo is classified as a t5. Any chancde its an "R"

Use an online VIN# checker. I use http://www.pronto-net.com/vin_app/vin.php

Any pre 97 850 that has a turbo is an HPT Turbo or T5 model (same thing), 97 they added LPTs (GLTs). Do you have suede seats? No? Then it's not an R.

An "R" badge was a little much to hope for, but worth asking. I have been more than happy with the t5.

An R and T5 are the exact same car, just different from bumper, interior, and two extra PSI.

Obviously slightly more torque and hp, the 2psi doesn't give the car an extra 20hp, the tuning does.

I wouldn't always listen to those. You may have EGR or an air pump, I know some 96s didn't have neither, and you have a platinum right? So you may not (at the same time, my extra motor is out of a 95 and does not have EGR, and all 95s supposedly did, just sayin). When I bought my wagon and I searched my vin it told me it was a 2.4l NA. Pretty sure it had turbo, considering I took it out and held it my hand.

Oh yeah, that's right. Then if you have a 97, no, you don't have EGR, but you should have SAS.

In 94-95 Volvo did not use the term "T5". They were just called 850 Turbo. In 95 the "R" was given the name "T5R". In 96-97 the "T5R" became the "R" and the "Turbo" became just the "T5". You can tell by the 6th and 7th position of the VIN which model you have. Can not remember the translation off the top of my head, but I think 58 = "R" or "T5R" and 57 = "Turbo" or "T5". I think the GLT had a 56 which was a LPT in 97 only.
