Search. This thread is about 10 below this one.

https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-850-16/i-have-few-questions-about-850-a-34424/

If you have an 850 turbo, then it's a 15G, if you have an 850 GLT, it's a 13G starting in 96/97, otherwise the GLT's didn't have turbos.

The wastegate is located on the exhaust housing.

fairly easy. Why do you need to access the wastegate?

If your planning to adjust the WASTEGATE to increase the BOOST. DO NOT DO THIS. Yes you may have done this on other cars, other people may have done this on other cars and on Volvo's or someone told you you can do this to a turbo car.

Yes their all right, but in reality this is the worst method for increasing boost. Especially if you don't have a real boost gauge hooked up to the car.

If this is why you want access to the WASTEGATE please DON'T DO IT. To raise boost properly get an ECU upgrade and if you don't want to go that route then at the very least use a Manual Boost Controller (MBC). But even with these two methods a BOOST gauge is really important. Especially with a MBC.

+124 to S70driver. Don't do that if that's what your thinking about.

aha yea actually a buddy of mine had told me i could do this, and i am doing the works, boost guage, mbc, bov, everything so i just thought the wastegate would be a great addon, but i guess not, so i may just stick to the 3 things i plan on doing for now.

my only other question is where exactly can i hook up the BOV? i have no idea where it could go....

I would just do the MBC and boost gauge. The BOV is completely pointless, the only thing it will add is noise, the CBV does the exact same thing as a BOV. But if you really want to add a BOV it goes anywhere between the turbo and the throttle body.

The only reason you should ever be messing with the wastegate is if you add a BOV, then you should get a blanking plate to remove the CBV.

The stock boost level is about 9-10PSI controlled by the ECU. Fuel cutoff is at 15PSI, most people who put MBC's on their stock 850 Turbo's usually set them to about 13/13.5. That will leave room for boost spikes. The 15G is out of efficiency at 15PSI anyways.

15G is a HPT on the 2.3L engine. They didn't have the LPT option until 96/97, that was the 13G.

Is your car Pearl?
