New and got a few quick questions
Hi:
I'm new here and new to volvo's. Well my 01 volvo s80 2.9l non turbo need a brake job and im not shelling out 900+ for dealership plus i know my way around car really good(well american cars). but i was wondering if it is that much harder than my 98 monte carlos. i just got my brembo oem rotor and satified pro pad all the way around. Any tips will be welcome about it even though i read in one of the old post that it was pretty much straight fowar. My second question is that if you guys know where can i get the special wrench for the oil filter and do they sell the cartridge filter at like autozone or anything like that. i dont even know what the special wrench looks likes.
thanks
everyone
p.s. sorry for the long post, just wanna get everything done right

We are a two Volvo family here, S80T6 & V70XC.
Brake jobs are straight forward. As for oil changes I use an old oil wrench from the 70's so I do not know of a new type. I purchase 10 oil filters at a time from the local dealer, for me very cheap.

Look at my tips for oil change and service light. Just in case you break the special wrench. BTW, I just ordered a new one and going to reinforce it with my method described.
Anyway, I have done the brakes but would be interested if you come back and post with any special instruction for non-mechanics like me.
As for parts, I once saw eEuroParts.com (don't know if okay to mention this site, feel free to edit MOD) on this site and I bought twice through there. The housing kit comes with housing and filter. If you don't have an extraoil filter housing, I recommend it (it's plastic and you never knows). It's free shipping over $35, I took advantage of that both times like adding air and fuel filters and maybe spark plugs to your order; going to replace them anyway. Good luck!
1 Oil Filter Wrench (A261) - $4.9
1 Oil Filter Housing Kit (1275808) - $11.9
1 Oil Filter Insert Kit (1275811) - $5.4 (filter only)
