I recently opened my 5 speed manual transmission that wouldn’t go into gear for any obvious reason. Nothing on the outside from my investigating was or is broken. When I took the case apart to reveal the internal gearstacks I noticed the shaft that connects to the triangular shaped shift link had a collar around it and it had something sheared off of it.
I found the missing chunk and it’s what I would describe as an anvil? When you shift into a gear it pushes on an opposing lever that engages the gear.
The end of the “anvil” was sheared off and I have no idea how the previous owner did it.
